9. Map of Philadelphia for John Hills

9.1. Title: No title but This Plan of the City of Philadelphia and its Environs (shewing the improved parts) and is dedicated to the mayor, aldermen and citizens thereof, by their most obedient servant, John Hills, surveyor and draughtsman May 30th 1796.
Date: 1797.
Size: 678 x 938 mm. Scale 600 Feet to an inch 6(00) + 1800 Feet.
Imprint(s): Philadelphia, Published, and Sold, by John Hills, Surveyor and Draughtsman, 1797.
Signature(s): Engraved by John Cooke of Hendon, Middlesex, (near London). (Ee).
Location: LoC[1].

Comments: According to web notes this map could be dated either 1796 or 1797 (presumably because of the two dates on map itself). 

Cooke was already known to the Boydells (see 6), which may explain why they chose him to engrave the map assuming that they were instrumental in its execution and Hills was not only the surveyor but also the American publisher or distributor.
