Comments: The maps and plates (141) were prepared for: Voyage dans la Basse et la haute Egypte, par Vivant Denon, published by P Didot, Paris, 1802. All plates (but not the maps) have signatures Denon del and Publié par S Bagster à Londres and appeared in the extra Planches section. The fully illustrated work was immensely popular and the text was translated and issued by other London publishers as Travels in Upper and Lower Egypt.

[1] Another edition of Denon´s travels was translated by E A Kendal (1802) which has
a map by Neele. Further translations and
editions were published in Glasgow by E Khull & Co. (1815); and as Egypt Delineated published in London by
Robert Thurston (1826).
[2] The RGS copy is published by Bagster in London but
only the Cairo map is included in the plate volume; text volumes not seen (339213)
and an 1809 edition (339212) not seen. RGS also has copies of Travels translated by Arthur Aikin dated
1803 (339214 and 15) printed for T N Longman and O Rees of London.
[3] Only the map of Egypt. There was also an edition by Charles
Taylor, Sherwood, Gilbert & Piper, S D Neely. 1825.
